Englands jinx against Sweden continued in Gothenburg as Sven
Goran Erikssons side lost 1-0 in a match that forms part of
the Swedish FA's centenary celebrations. It is now 11 games since
England last beat the Swedes the last win coming in a 3-1 win at
Wembley 36 years ago.
England had the better of the first half and were unlucky not to
have led at half-time Wayne Rooney and Owen Hargreaves both hitting
the woodwork within the first half an hour.
Ibramhimovic gave Sweden the lead on 54 minutes slotting home a
cross by Kallstrom and a much changed England side failed to find
an equaliser.

| Sven-Goran
Eriksson insisted the door to the Euro 2004 finals could still be
open to Jermain Defoe after the striker made an immediate impression
on his senior England debut in Sweden.
He was a constant threat to the Swedish defence and, while England
suffered again at the hands of Eriksson's native country in a 1-0
defeat, Defoe's display was the positive outcome of the night.
Eriksson said: "I think he came on very well. You can see
he's a big talent, technically very good, he wasn't nervous at all,
he's quick and he knows where the goal is. In the future, he will
be even better as he will be physically stronger but I liked what
I saw. He has a chance [of making the squad], of course. I have
always said that the door is still open until the start of June.
I have to pick a squad on May 17, but I can change that until June
3.
