MINI REPORT
England warmed up for the Slovakia game next week with a 2-1 win over Serbia & Montenegro at Leicester. England started brightly but had to wait until the 35th minute when Liverpool's Steven Gerrard gave Svens side the lead. Jestrovic pulled the score level just before half-time. The second half was a mass of substitutions and England sealed the win with 8 minutes left with Joe Cole scoring his first senior goal with a stunning free-kick.

Joe Cole told Sky Sports: "I want to get in for Wednesday. I really want a chance to play in the important games. I just want to play Wednesday now. No disrespect to the under-21s but I don't ever want to be back there now."

"The boss pulled me in and told me not to try too hard. I've always done myself justice (for England), I've always felt I did good enough to be stuck in for the next game."

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson thanked the fans for behaving during the game.

"It's always good to win even if it's a friendly," said Eriksson.

"It was very good football, there were very good individual performances from our players. It looks good for next week. Our fans were very good, I appreciate that. One of the reasons I took out Southgate, Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes and Michael Owen was I did not want them injured for next week."
