MINI REPORT

England bow out of a major competition again after failing in the dreaded penalty shoot-out for the 5th time. England battled well after Wayne Rooney was sent-off just after the hour and the two evenly matched teams could not be separated after 120 minutes. England’s poor record in shoot-outs was added too with some shocking penalty taking as Portugal won it 3-1.

A poor tournament by England who have looked clueless at times in Germany. A poor overall reign by Sven Goran Eriksson thankfully comes to an end.
