MINI REPORT

A Saturday stroll in the sun at Old Trafford as England completed their warm-up for the World Cup with an easy 6-0 victory over Jamaica.

The Crowd did not have to wait long for a goal, on 11 minutes Peter Crouch won a header in the box to Michael Owen who hooked the ball over his head to Frank Lampard who fired home on the half-volley from 10 yards out. 5 minutes later is was 2-0 with Jamaica defender Taylor heading past his own keeper from a David Beckham free-kick. It was 3-0 on 29 minutes Crouch slotting home via a deflection from Euell on the line. Crouch claims the goal. No doubt about number 4 Michael Owen running clear before pushing the ball around Jamaican keeper Ricketts and finishing with ease.

With the work done in the first 45 the second half was quiet until 67 minutes, skipper Beckham released Jamie Carragher down the right and his cross was knocked home from close range by Crouch to make it 5. Crouch had a chance to get his hat-trick on 82 minutes but tried to be too fancy with his kick and chipped it over the bar. He made up for in on 89 minutes after a great move by England, substitute Stewart Downing found Owen who laid it on perfectly for Crouch who finished very well.

AFTER MATCH COMMENTS

Sven-Goran Eriksson said: "It was a very good match and very emotional for me. "Peter Crouch had a fantastic game, playing as first striker or link player, he won almost everything in the air and scored goals. I think he will start next Saturday. I think he deserves it.

"It would be difficult to leave him out after scoring a hat-trick and the performance he had today.

"The only thing I would criticise him about a little bit is how he took the penalty. It was a golden opportunity but he joked about it and was sorry afterwards.

"He should have taken it seriously, you can miss them, but don't take them that way. If it was a penalty shoot-out I doubt he would have taken it in that way - I certainly hope not."
