MINI REPORT
What a cruel game, so close but yet so far!!

England defended brilliantly for 90 minutes but were punished for two mistakes in injury time.

Nothing more to say, gutted!!!!!!!!!!

AFTER MATCH COMMENTS

England skipper David Beckham insisted England did not deserve to lose 2-1 to France in their Euro 2004 clash in Lisbon on Sunday night.

He said: "I do not think we deserved that. We deserved to win. For 89 minutes we performed well and maybe if I had put the penalty away it would have finished them off. I hold my hands up for that. We played some great football and couldn't have done much better. Fair play to Fabien he read it well."

England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson said: "We were very unlucky. We played a good game tactically and in the last 10 minutes we controlled it. They were out of ideas and they had some shots from distance but they never came in behind our backline. I thought we had won but it was an illusion. Now it is on to the next game. We must overcome this very quickly and look for a new performance."
