MINI REPORT

England were comprehensively beaten 2-0 in Zagreb to make it a miserable 5 days of International football for England fans. Croatia dominated from the start as England failed miserably to adapt to Steve McClarens new 3-5-2 formation.

England did manage to hang on for an hour with Paul Robinson keeping his side in the game with some smart saves. Silva Eduardo broke the deadlock on 61 minutes getting between John Terry and Ashley Cole to head a looping header into the net. The comedy for the night was added 8 minutes later when a Gary Neville back pass bobbled over Robinson’s foot just as he was about to clear it and bobbled into the empty net.

Croatia thoroughly deserved their win against a clueless England. Is it a case of come back Sven, all is forgiven?

AFTER MATCH COMMENTS

Steve McClaren insists England can survive their defeat in Croatia and make it to the Euro 2008 finals.

McClaren said: "We are all very, very disappointed but this group still has a long way to go. We play Croatia last, let's hope we reverse the score.

"There are enough points to play for, so we'll be okay.

"It's going to be difficult. Everyone has opinions, but I've said to the players that we've got to stick together. Their attitude has been magnificent and we'll turn it around."
